Ask AI
Dear Hub Support Team, I'm part of VI Cohort 4. This is a follow up on Michael Nguyen's previous post as I am experiencing similar issues as my other cohort members.

I am having difficulties with completing Venture Institute Sprint 8 Question 2. I was unable to see the Closing Pipeline and any activity in the Capital Accounts section even after following the course instructions to create prospect LPs in the Fundraising pipeline first. Based on one cohort member's feedback, it appears that the issue is due to user permission settings (only Decile Launch and Decile Partners can access this).

In order to view the capital accounts and do the mock capital call exercise, I believe we must set our LP status to CLOSED and I'm unable to do so currently (possibly due to current user settings).

Since this is a recurring issue within the Cohort IV based on our WhatsApp group discussions,  I wanted to bring this to your attention and see how we can resolve this.

Many thanks in advance,

Best,

Yu Wen

Sprint 8, Question 2: Dive into the fund accounting features of Decile Hub. First, go to the Back Office section and generate a full set of annual reports, reviewing each report and writing a bulleted list of questions that you have. Next, go to the Capital Accounts subsection and set up a capital call for 20% without saving it, writing a second bulleted list with any questions about the process or about the information presented. Then, go to the Investments subsection and experiment with updating the valuation of an investment without saving any changes, writing a third bulleted list with questions. Lastly, use the Questions section to get all of your questions answered, and, if your question is not sufficiently answered, then you can, selectively, “Ask the community for a better answer”

Access to the Back Office section, including the Closing Pipeline and Capital Accounts, is limited to Decile Partners and those in the Decile Launch program. If you are experiencing access issues, ensure your permissions are correctly set by contacting your account administrator or Decile Hub support. If you are part of the eligible programs and still face issues, further assistance from Decile Hub support may be necessary.
Hi Yu Wen,

We realized some of the instructions for this assignment was unclear / some of the actions we instructed aren't quite possible in Hub. Here are some updated instructions for this assignment (these I believe got emailed out in an update yesterday, so may have been missed):

"(Hub Fund Accounting) Dive into the fund accounting features of Decile Hub.
While going through the steps, keep a bulleted list of any questions you have.
Go through the example workflow of closing an investor:
  1. Add at least one example prospect to your fundraising funnel. Copy that prospect to your Closing funnel. This will create a capital account in your Capital Accounts section.
  2. You will see that under Capital Accounts, the capital account is not enabled since it has not yet been approved by an accounting team member. (Since this is just an exploration of the product, it will remain that way.)
  3. Next, go set up a capital call for 20% without saving it. The list of capital accounts to call from will be blank since there are no enabled capital accounts.
Generate Reports for the Fund
  1. Go to the Fund Overview and generate a report for the venture capital firm, noting the different sections that it will include. Most of these will be blank, that's okay.
Lastly, go to Decile Base to get all of your questions answered, and, if your question is not sufficiently answered, then you can, selectively, “Ask the community for a better answer”.

Hi Woody, many thanks for your speedy response on a Saturday afternoon, very much appreciated!

Yes the above new instructions have been noted and were indeed sent out via email by Emily Adams to the wider group yesterday. Unfortunately despite having followed the above instructions, several members including myself were still unable to create a capital account or view anything in the capital account sections.

For instance, after creating one example prospect, I wasnt able to copy to closing funnel as the latter wasnt visible in my pipeline (I didnt have that option in the drop down menu). This was raised by several other people in the group. I therefore tried to manually change the status to Closing on the front page (since I couldnt copy to the closing pipeline) but nothing happened and most people, including myself, couldn't see anything in the capital accounts sections.

Any advice on how to proceed - I know quite a few people have gone through the above instructions without much success and are keen to resolve this as we are all on a tight deadline to complete the sprints lol.

Again many thanks in advance for your support,

Best,

Yu Wen

Hey Yu Wen,

Thanks for raising this. We got out an additional fix a few days ago to enable the closing pipeline as well. Sorry about the confusion here!
