So, I sent some emails with a link to the to the deck in the data room, but the person gets presented a login form. Should it not already know who it is?

Emails sent with data room link, but recipient prompted to login. Confusion over why identity not recognized.

It depends on how you generated the emails and how the permissions of the data room are set. If you have permissions set to "All" and you used the data room variable from the email templates page, then the link sent has an encoding to pass anybody that clicks directly into the room.
