I have an LP prospect who wants to invest from an IRA. How do I need to set this up?

Great question! Here's how IRA investing works for your LP prospect:

The basic setup process:

  1. Your LP opens a self-directed IRA (SDIRA) with a custodian. Decile Group has a partnership with Alto, which specializes in private market investments. They can fund it via a rollover from an existing 401(k)/IRA or a new cash contribution.

  2. You set up your fund on Alto's Private Raise Portal to create an offering page. According to Alto, this takes just a few minutes with no technical integration required.

  3. Your LP commits capital through the platform and receives a personalized landing page for your fund. Alto handles onboarding, compliance, and funding logistics.

  4. Capital typically arrives in your fund within about two business days after transfer.

  5. Alto manages ongoing IRS reporting and custodial requirements going forward.

One important compliance note: Under ERISA guidelines, no more than 25% of your fund's total capital can come from IRA sources. Worth tracking as you raise.

The good news is this doesn't add much operational complexity on your end. The custodian handles the heavy lifting.
