- We want to send in batches of 500 per day to avoid triggering automated spam filters.
- There does not seem to be any way to take one newsletter and send it out in batches using tags. So we tag 100 people Batch 0 (for testing), 500 Batch 1, 500 Batch 2 ... 500 Batch 5. But you can only send to a tag the first time you publish. We cannot send to Tag 0 when we publish and then next day send out all Tag 1.
Great question, and congrats on your first newsletter!
The good news is that Decile Hub already handles the batching for you automatically. The system has a built-in limit of 500 emails per day, so you don't need to manually split your list into tags.
Here's how it works:
- Publish your newsletter once to your full list
- The first 500 go out on day one
- You can re-publish on subsequent days and another 500 will send each time
- Emails are rate limited regardless of whether you send via Gmail or SendGrid
So the workflow is simply: publish, then re-publish each day until all 2,600 have been sent.
If you run into any issues with this or need help automating the process further, reach out to Woody at woody@decilegroup.com and he can help find a solution for your volume.
Hub can send multiple thousands (e.g. 4k) in one go without issues. Spam filtering will be up to your judgment based on past performance of your sendgrid account.
If you'd like to do this batching, you can build your newsletter with tag 1, publish that newsletter, and then create a next newsletter copying the first, which will copy all settings from the previous, so you would just need to change the tag used for targeting.
