Could I propose a new feature for an email template in the Decile Hub? Could users have an option to know whether a recipient opened the sent email? Most email clients have this feature, but I was not able to find it here. This would be especially useful for communicating with LPs.
If this is possible - how long would it take to review and potenitally implement this change? This would be of tremendous value to our fundraising and capital call.

Hi there!

We supported email open tracking in the past, but we removed the feature for a couple of reasons:
  • Technical limitations - many email clients and browser extensions either intentionally prevent email open tracking or open the emails themselves in a way that can lead to many false positives. This means that open tracking is not very accurate in the first place, because there will be both false negatives in the case of tracking being blocked and false positives in the case of the recipient's email provider opening emails automatically.
  • Privacy concerns - many people simply don't want to be tracked for what seems like a very private interaction of opening an email, and see this as an invasion of their privacy. This is something we must consider, especially as we try to do things ethically.

All of this being said, we might implement the option again at some point in the future, and we appreciate the input. In the meantime, we do have click tracking in place, which is both more accurate and less intrusive.

Again, thank you for your feedback, and if we decide to reimplement email open tracking in any capacity we will be sure to keep you all posted!
