For variables, what is difference between the formats "paragraph" and "string"

The difference between "paragraph" and "string" formats for variables is in the type and amount of information they hold. A "string" variable is typically a short sequence of characters, such as a name or a title. A "paragraph" variable, on the other hand, can hold longer, more complex information, such as a full paragraph of text.
I do not understand how this works.
- What do you mean by "more complex"? I thought paragraph would allow formatting but it does not. Both seem to just be linear strings of characters.
- String seems to be able to store long text - well past 256 characters
- Neither Paragraph or String seems to be able to store line breaks
I was unable to find anything that can go in one but not the other.
This is probably a UI limitation that we should fix. The paragraph format should at least be able to preserve line breaks. We have not gotten so far to be able to do rich text formatting of variables, but if it's important we might be able to implement in the future.
Can you tell me where you're trying to add a paragraph variable and it doesn't allow line breaks?

You cannot put paragraph breaks in these variables.
